Our History
ReadyPoint Strategies was founded in Janesville, Wisconsin, born out of years of firsthand experience in public service, emergency response, and community preparedness. Our founder, Shena Kohler, has spent her career working in law enforcement and public safety, where she witnessed the challenges that businesses, schools, and families face when emergencies disrupt daily life.
Recognizing a gap in specialized recovery-focused consulting, Shena established ReadyPoint Strategies to provide practical, real-world solutions that go beyond preparedness. From day one, the company has emphasized continuity and recovery — helping organizations not just plan for disruptions, but also navigate the complex process of returning to normal operations.
With deep roots in the Midwest, ReadyPoint Strategies was built to serve the unique needs of regional businesses, insurers, and real estate professionals, while extending mission-driven support to schools and families. What began as a local consultancy has quickly grown into a trusted partner for resilience across multiple industries — guided by the belief that recovery is where true resilience begins.
Our CEO & Founder
Shena Kohler is the founder of ReadyPoint Strategies, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in public service leadership, emergency management, and strategic program development. Throughout her career, she has led large-scale programs, built cross-agency collaborations, and developed policies and training that have directly improved resilience across communities, schools, and organizations.
In her public service career, Shena has managed countywide crisis operations, spearheaded innovative initiatives such as a Cybersecurity Response Plan, and coordinated multi-jurisdictional task forces that significantly enhanced regional preparedness and response capabilities. She also directed a 400-day Emergency Operations Center activation during COVID-19, fielding thousands of resource requests and ensuring continuity of critical services during one of the most complex crises in recent history.
A seasoned instructor, Shena has personally trained more than 5,000 individuals in critical safety protocols, including Incident Command, Active Shooter Response, and Emergency Operations procedures. Her leadership has also been recognized with multiple commendations for program innovation, crisis management, and community engagement.
Shena holds a Master of Arts in Security Studies (Homeland Defense & Security) from the Naval Postgraduate School, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Upper Iowa University. She is also a Certified Emergency Management Professional through the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.
Today, through ReadyPoint Strategies, Shena applies her expertise to help businesses and communities strengthen preparedness, navigate recovery, and build resilience in the face of disruption.
